Bill Isles died on March 28 after losing a battle to cancer. This heartbreaking news was delivered by Isles’ son, Duane, who shared that the icon passed in his Oceanside home. An intimate funeral service was held for the California native on April 6.
Born William Carvan Isles II, the musical prodigy started a group called the Mascots, who later became the O’Jays after connecting with music executive Eddie O’Jay. The group went on to make music that has lasted the test of time and continues to influence artists across genres. Their biggest hits include “Love Train” and “For The Love Of Money.” Samples of their songs are still being used in today’s records. In fact, the late Nipsey Hussle used parts of the group’s “Who Am I” for his hit “All Get Right.” The two passed just three days apart.

After marrying his sweetheart, Laural, the father of seven retired from singing and continued as the group’s manager until 1974. He and his wife were married for 52 years.
Along with a legacy of great musical contributions, According to his obituary Isles leaves behind his wife, children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
