Rumors of a New York Undercover redo are true! Last year after the famous trio was spotted together, conversations of a reboot surfaced online and thanks to Dick Wolf and ABC, we now know Malik Yoba will reprise his role in a pilot ordered by the network. The former Justice By Any Means host and new star of The First Wives Club remake confirmed the news on Instagram.

After literally decades of fans the world over asking “when y’all gonna bring NY Undercover back???” EVERYDAY OF MY LIFE , the prayers, wishes, asks, demands of many have been answered all in divine order. So happy to be working with my fam again including @shinybootz ( he was a 17 year old production assitant back in 94) and many others behind the camera. Thank you @dickwolf @abcnetwork @_benipedia_ for believing in the vision and desire of the people. I would never consider this as going “backwards” but moving forward propelled by the power and purpose of our past. #MORETHANATVSHOW #DOITFORTHECULTURE
So what can fans expect? Deadline says Yoba will reprise his role, 20 years later, as Detective J.C. Williams, who is “now overseeing the unit and the next generation of detectives.” The revival would follow “detectives Nat Gilmore and Melissa Ortiz as they investigate the city’s most dangerous criminals, from Harlem to Battery Park.” At this point, there’s no word on if Michael DeLorenzo or Lauren Velez will make an appearance.
