Kim Porter, mostly known as the mother of Diddy‘s four kids Quincy, Christian, Jessie, and D’Lilah, was laid to rest over the weekend in a beautiful ceremony in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia. Diddy spoke about the life lessons his 47-year-old ex and best friend taught him over the years.

“She felt like God sent her here to help me out. I didn’t really understand how to… love. We went through some circumstances, my mother and my family, and we didn’t have a big family and [Porter] just started breaking down the exterior, any shell that I put up,” he said.

Listen to the emotional eulogy below.

After the funeral, a fireworks display was set off to remember the legacy of the loving mother and friend.

Porter was found dead November 15 in her Los Angeles home. Details of the cause of death have not been determined. Tributes from her close friends and family, including Al B. Sure! (the biological father of Kim’s oldest Quincy) and Dallas Austin (who revealed their secret romance) flooded in days after the news of the former model’s passing.
