During Monday’s Red Table Talk Toni Braxton joined Jada Pinkett Smith and her mom Adrienne Banfield Norris to talk about surviving divorce (Gammy, as Jada’s mother is affectionately called, has been through divorce three times). The oldest Braxton opened up about her painful split from Mint Condition member Keri Lewis. The two were married for 12 years but called it quits in 2013.

“I hated being divorce. I hated having to surrender to the loss,” the 51-year-old said. But what many don’t know is that even after their divorce, Lewis became his ex-wife’s boyfriend all over again. “We were attempting to salvage the relationship again. We were hopeful. We dated for like a good year and a half.”

In another shocking moment, the newly engaged singer revealed although she and Lewis divorced over money, it was actually because of her insecurities from her 2010 Lupus diagnosis.

“I felt shallow and I because we broke up for money issues. I found out I had Lupus at the time. I couldn’t make money because I had lupus….that was my personal contribution to the marriage failing.  Who wants to take care of a person who’s sick all the time. He never said that, but I felt it. Money was the decoration on the tree. The tree itself was, I felt because I was sick he left. It made me insecure.”

The former couple, who share two boys Denim and Diezel, was seen together in the early years of filming Braxton Family Values. Remember this hilarious moment when Tamar Braxton caught Keri leaving the house?

Watch the entire conversation as Jada reveals why she isn’t “mature enough” for a divorce and Toni opens up about paying alimony and wanting to “re-nig” on their pre and postnuptial agreement.
