The Upside brought in $19.5M at the box office during the opening weekend. Could this be Kevin Hart‘s first ever Oscar contender?

In what marks Kevin Hart‘s first “serious” role, the comedian stars in The Upside along Oscar award-winning actors, Nicole Kidman and Bryan Cranston. A remake of the French film The Intouchables, the movie is based on a real-life story of the friendship between an aristocrat and his caregiver, a man from the inner city. It also stars Aja Naomi King (How To Get Away With Murder).

The Upside will hit theaters on January 11, 2019.
