TMZ has reported Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the legendary Jackson family is dead. He was 89. Just last week, Papa Joe was admitted into the hospital last Friday, reportedly suffering from terminal cancer.

In March, TV One talked to Joe Jackson on the 33rd Stellar Gospel Music Awards red carpet – and he seemed to be in good spirits and excited for the events that night.

According to TMZ, “Joe had been battling health problems for some time now. He was hospitalized back in 2016 after coming down with a high fever. But, he bounced back not long after and was seen partying in Vegas. His health was also fragile after a stroke and 3 heart attacks back in 2015. Doctors implanted a pacemaker.”

Earlier this year, Papa Joe famously defended his son Michael Jackson against Quincy Jones‘ claims that the King of Pop was a thief. Michael died nine years ago on June 25. Papa Joe died on June 26. Our prayers are with the Jackson family and friends.
