Hoda Kotb sat down with Kim Kardashian West and Alice Marie Johnson in Memphis on Wednesday, marking the first time the reality star and the former inmate had met in person.
Just a week shy of getting the news that Donald Trump had commuted her sentence, the 63-year-old grandmother was overcome with emotion after serving a 21-year bid for nonviolent charges related to drug possession and money-laundering. Johnson admitted she had no idea who Kardashian was, “As soon as I found out who she was, I started getting every magazine I could find,” she said. “I started reading everything that I could about her. And everyone was amazed. And I was amazed, too.”
