With the news of Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz stepping down (rumors are swirling he’s preparing for a presidential bid in 2020), it only makes sense for a sistah to join the ranks in the reported $450 billion company. Insert Mellody Hobson.

As the president of Ariel Investments, LLC, the nation’s largest African American investment firm, she is also widely known as the Chair of Afterschool Matters, a nonprofit that provides Chicago teens with high-quality out-of-school programs. Additionally, she offers financial tips weekly on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show.
