This is what happens when you have a sistah in charge at ABC!Channing Dungey, the first black woman to serve as President of a major broadcast television network, has canceled Roseanne Barr‘s series after the comedian/actress referred to Barack Obama‘s former aide Valerie Jarrett (she was born in Iran) as “a Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.”
Dungey said in a statement, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
Wanda Sykes, who served as a consulting producer on the reboot, announced she was leaving the show amidst Barr’s comments.
The 65-year-old has since apologized, but really, who cares.
I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.
Jarrett is an attorney and businesswoman who served as the senior advisor to the 44th President of the United States. She is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Michigan Law School.
