Just last week, following a historic performance at Coachella, Beyoncé, announced a $100K scholarship to four HBCUs. Immediately after closing out the second week of the popular California music festival yesterday, the 36-year-old added Grambling State University, Fisk University (her father Mathew Knowles‘ alma mater), Morehouse College and Texas Southern University!
According to her website, “the disciplines will include literature, creative arts, African- American studies, science, education, business, communications, social sciences, computer science and engineering. All applicants must maintain a 3.5 GPA or above. All finalists and winners will be selected by the universities. Winners will be announced this summer.” Google also announced they were matching the singer’s previous $100K.
This is the second year Mrs. Carter has funded a scholarship, on the one year anniversary of Lemonade, she partnered with four colleges and universities across the country to launch the Formation Scholars program.
