Roberta Flack was rushed to the hospital on Friday night following a performance at the Apollo Theatre in New York. The 81-year-old was being honored by the Jazz Foundation of America with a lifetime achievement award, but left before it was presented.
The 5-time-Grammy-winning artist appeared healthy in the video released by the foundation, but was feeling ill.
“She suffered a stroke a few years ago. She didn’t feel well so it was best to take her to the hospital. She’s doing fine but is being kept overnight for observation,” her rep said to PEOPLE. Flack has since been released from the hospital.

The legendary artist is best known for her hit songs, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly” which she performed at the gala. Our thoughts and prayers are with the singer as she recovers at this time.
