Dave Chappelle is being sued by a guy who threw a banana peel at HIM during a 2015 comedy show in Santa Fe, New Mexico. According to the Associated Press, Christian Englander, was offended by a joke and felt the need to throw garbage at the 44-year-old.
In response, Chappelle’s bodyguard restrained Englander and allegedly struck him twice – information that wasn’t included the original police report. Now, Englander is pressing charges.
The 30-year-old originally was charged for battery and disturbing the peace, but the Grammy-winner understandably didn’t want to participate in the prosecution, so the charges were dropped. We’ll see how this unfolds.
The father of three spoke about the incident referring to it as the “banana gate” in his Deep In The Heart Of Texas Netflix special in 2017. Most recently in December he released his third comedy special with the streaming service called Dave Chappelle: Equanimity. Have you seen the it?
