Judge Mablean Ephriam is nominated for the first time for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Best Legal/Courtroom Program” category. Her show, Justice with Judge Mablean is produced by Byron Allen‘s Entertainment Studios.  The judge took to Instagram to announce her accomplishment.

The 68-year-old’s daughter, Tajamika “Taj” Paxton, serves as the Vice President of Documentaries for the Logo TV Network. Paxton is nominated for an award as well for the third time, in the “Best Special Class Special” category for her network’s show, Kevyn Aucoin: Beauty & The Beast in Me.

The two make history as the first black mother-daughter duo to earn Daytime Emmy nominations in the same year, The Grio reports.

“I am following in my daughter’s footsteps. I will be sharing the red carpet with my daughter, my flesh, my creation.  This is absolutely amazing!” The former Los Angeles attorney told the publication.
