Mariah Carey has more number 1 records than any other solo singer, a total of 18, if anyone is counting. So if anyone can claim the title of pop diva, it’s Mimi. In fact she is second only to the Beatles for the most number 1 singles in the US, and few singers can touch her five-octave range. With all the accolades comes some drama, of course. Her fairy-tale wedding to record exec Tommy Mottola ended in 1998 and her movie “Glitter” flopped, but Mimi seems to be back on top—she married Nick Cannon, the 10-years-younger rapper-actor; and she’s a judge on American Idol, trading diva moments with up-and-coming diva, Nicki Minaj.
