If we can have a Queen of Soul, we can certainly have a Queen of Comedy and Mo’Nique wears the crown as one of the most successful black female comedians in the game. She’s made a career as the big girl that can make us laugh until our sides hurt, while loving her curves at the same time. Her queendom extends far for someone who started stand-up on a dare—a Grammy nod for stand-up (“Queens of Comedy”), a TV sitcom (“The Parkers”), a talk show (“The Mo’Nique Show”), and a book (“Skinny Women Are Evil”). But this diva has a serious side, too, as we saw in her star turn in “Precious,” a role that added a Best Supporting Actress Oscar Award to her accolades.
