Chaka Khan‘s publicist has reached out to us in light of our most recent report, citing the flu as the reason behind Jazz In The Garden performance. See below.

“Grammy Award winner Chaka Khan has been supporting her scheduled show dates as she has been battling the flu for a number of weeks despite the doctor’s orders to cancel these shows and rest. Unfortunately Chaka not wanting to disappoint her fans has performed, while not totally 100%, and the media has been turning these difficult performances  into something else. Chaka  values her fans and supporters and would never do anything to jeopardize their  support and love. Under doctor’s orders Chaka will be resting for the remainder of the week until her next performance engagement in Macon, GA, Saturday, March 24th.”

Over the weekend Chaka Khan closed out Jazz In The Gardens in Miami but the 64-year-old’s performance left many underwhelmed.

The annual event kicked off its 13th year celebrating iconic soul, jazz, funk and R&B music, but it was the Tell Me Something Good singer that made headlines. Watch another concert goer’s experience below that showed Chaka seemingly struggling to get through her set.

Super producer Rico Love chimed in alleging that Khan, who launched an indie record label last year, may have even been drunk on stage.

Ouch. While we have no proof that something was up with Chaka, being under the influence wouldn’t be a stretch considering she checked herself into rehab in 2016 and has been very upfront about her past drug abuse.

Check out a throwback of Chaka at the 2012 Essence Fest.
