The Summer Music Festival With Maze, Patti Labelle, The O’Jays, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds And Special Guest Tank

Miss Patti gives diva all day long, especially when she kicks her shoes off on stage just as she’s about to hit the high note in one of her many gospel-tinged, ear-bending songs like “Over the Rainbow” or “You Are My Friend.” She gave us a song for the diva songbook with “Lady Marmalade,” which was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame. And, what about her hair in the 80s, flamboyantly fanned up and out? She was definitely bringing a “New Attitude” with that hair.  Even as Dwayne Wayne’s mama on “A Different World,” she bought sass. Remember how she called Whitley, “Miss Thang?” Miss Patti is one of the original divas.
