It’s Women’s History Month, and Black girl magic is starting it off strong!

Melissa Butler makes history with her lipstick line, The Lip Bar, becoming the first Black-owned vegan brand sold at Target. If she seems familiar, it’s probably because the Florida A&M graduate appeared on Shark Tank in 2015, where her product was outrightly rejected! Check out the clip below.

“The chances of this becoming a business is zero,” she was told in the video. The 31-year-old Detroit native is getting the last laugh! Butler’s business is flourishing, and her products are currently sold in select Target stores. The entrepreneur’s vegan and cruelty-free products will expand to 100 more Target stores this spring. Additionally, The Lip Bar also celebrated it’s 6th anniversary last week!

Butler is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. You might remember the photo that went viral last year of her line “Tite” celebrating their 10 year Delta-versary.

The former Wall Street financial analyst was frustrated that women like her weren’t being widely represented in the beauty industry, and decided to make a change. “Everyone deserves to have representation. Without it, we are left seeking validation,” Butler said in a statement about the lipstick line.
