With only a few days left until the highly anticipated release of Marvel’s Black Panther, the film’s director Ryan Coogler opened up about why now, more than ever, he wanted a daughter with wife Zinzi Evans.

“I found I want daughters real, real bad. Like plural. I thought, making Fruitvale (Station), I want kids. But like ,on this one, I have to have some daughters.”
Seems like working with powerful, confident women like the film’s co-stars, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o and Angela Bassett made an impression on the 31-year-old and we totally understand why.

Black Panther hits theaters February 16 and many celebrities including Octavia Spencer, are buying out theaters to support the film in droves. The movie will reportedly make $170 million over the four day weekend (see the record shattering pre-sale numbers here).
