Nicci Gilbert may not be everyone’s favorite on TV One’s R&B Divas, but she doesn’t seem bothered much by it. In an interview with Sire Says, the former Brownstone singer brushed off talk of her being fired from the show. She also added that not being a fan favorite isn’t exactly hurting her prospects on the show anyway.

She explained:

“I’m going to say this: It seems like to me, all the ‘characters’ that viewers can’t relate to or don’t like tend to be the ones that keep people watching. So if I was a network, and I had a NeNe Leakes, Kenya Moore or whatever [I wouldn’t fire them]. So people need to think a little more, I’m not trying to be insulting, but as long as you’re invoking some kind of emotion from somebody, they’re not going to throw you out.

“I think it’s funny. I don’t take it seriously until TV One comes to me and says “Hey Nicci…” And the way it works in this industry is they wouldn’t come to me, they would go to my lawyer and my lawyer would be contacting me saying, ‘Hey look, you know…’ And that hasn’t happened.”
