Dr. Bernice King, the daughter of the civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is not happy with Newsweek magazine. In a tweet that accompanied an article titled “Has Anybody Here Seen My Old Friend Martin?” Newsweek posted a photo of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lying in his casket.

The article detailed upcoming anniversaries of major historical events, including the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bernice responded with the below tweet.

Newsweek has since deleted the photo and apologized to Ms. King in a tweet, however, as of now both the original tweet with the insensitive photo and response apology tweet have been deleted.

According to Fox News the apology tweet read “Earlier this afternoon we published an opinion piece with an insensitive image of Martin Luther King Jr. We sincerely apologize to the King family for this egregious error.”
