Trends To Look Forward To At The 49th NAACP Image Awards

Now that the nominations have been announced, the 49th NAACP Image Awards is sure to be one for the books! And the red carpet? Well if last year’s show was any indication, you can look forward to some of the biggest and boldest trends of the year to make an appearance. Take a look at three of our biggest fashion predictions.

Over the last few years you no longer have to count on one hand the number of times you’ll see textured hair on the red carpet and we’re expecting that trend to continue. Take a look at how Yvonne Orji and Chloe X Halle make their natural tresses red carpet ready.

One thing we don’t shy away from are our assets. Expect to see a plethora of plunging necklines and thigh high splits. See how Taraji P. Henson, Anika Noni Rose and Tracee Ellis Ross wore the trend earlier this year.

If there is one thing we know for sure, our melanin looks absolutely gorgeous when adorned with deep purples, hunter greens and browns. Celebrities like Beyoncé and Sevyn Streeter wore jewel tones beautifully this year.

The two-hour special will air live on TV One Monday, January 15, 2018, the federal holiday honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The telecast will also include a live pre-show from the star-studded red carpet.
