Earlier this year Tina Campbell, one half of the Gospel duo Mary Mary took to Facebook to share an interesting perspective on Donald Trump being named the 45th president of the United States. In her open letter she reveals that although she may not agree with everything he says, “I believe that the same God that created all of us has deposited greatness inside of him that goes far beyond what many of us have seen and what many of us could imagine.”

She goes on to say, “President Donald Trump is the elected leader of this nation so, as a citizen, I choose to be for him.”

Read the letter in its entirety below.

In an interview with The Root last week, Campbell assures fans that although she spoke openly about Trump, the topic would never come up on the group’s reality show.

“You ain’t never going to see that in there. Donald Trump is not that much a part of my life. I had a perspective. I had a feeling. And I put it out there. I know there’s some people who don’t agree. I do not agree with a lot of the decisions that this man makes. And I made that very clear in my statement.”

Well Angela Rye ain’t buying it. The outspoken political activist and commentator shared her own thoughts about Campbell’s support of the commander-in-chief and it ends with a boycott of the gospel group.
