Over the last week conversation around Colin Kaepernick increased, including current and former NYPD officers rallying around the 29-year-old. This week, hundreds of Kapernick’s supporters, including his fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, staged a protest near the NFL headquarters.
But it didn’t stop there. The Velevet Lounge and The Bureau Bar near Soldier Field in Chicago announced that they won’t show NFL games in their establishments as long as Kaepernick remains unemployed.
Both bars are owned by Kenny Johnson and while he knows it’s a big risk he tells Yahoo Sports, “Every bar benefits from football games…this is more about right and wrong,” Johnson said. “We’ll take a hit, but be OK.”
Kenny Johnson, you’re our kind of guy!
