Forbes released their annual list of the world’s highest-paid actresses and not a drop of #BlackGirlMagic appeared. Despite our year of yes, Moonlight, Atlanta and Insecure, in the race to top coin, we just didn’t compete. Emma Stone scored the top spot bringing in $26 million, driven by ‘La La Land’ which got her an Oscar and made more than $430 million at the box office.

And guess what, we ain’t make the list last year either. Although, we had a few guest appearances from other women of color in 2016 – Deepika Padukone ($10 Million) and Fan Bingbing ($17 Million).

But, are we that surprised? Here’s a little knowledge for yall:

According to the 2016 study, “Inclusion or Invisibility? Comprehensive Annenberg Report on Diversity in Entertainment”…..

  • Just 34% of all speaking characters were female and 12% of all speaking roles featured a Black actor
  • Only 19% of TV programs had casts that reflected the race and ethnicity of our country and only 7% of films did the same

We’re out here, we’re in the game, but we’ve got a loooong way to go. Check out the full Forbes list below :

Emma Stone ($26 million)

Jennifer Aniston ($25.5 million)

Jennifer Lawrence ($24 million)
