The 2017 Emmy nominations were announced Thursday morning and with the exception of some our favorites like Insecure, Empire and The New Edition Story, the undisputed champions of black television (Regina King, Viola Davis, Tracee Ellis Ross, Thandie Newton) continue to reign supreme.
But we’ve GOT to give major props to Chance The Rapper (Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the Christmas Song on SNL), Common (Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics), Snoop Dogg (Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program) and LL Cool J (Outstanding Structured Reality Program) as the only musicians nominated!
