After their championship win against the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, sources are reporting that the Golden State Warriors have unanimously declined to visit President Trump at the White House, but the team has not released an official statement yet.

This does not come as a surprise as Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, is no stranger to speaking out against Trump. At a team news conference, Kerr shared his feelings about the newly elected President Trump, in which he described Trump to be “routinely racist”.

Even Golden State Warriors point guard, Stephen Curry, has not shied away from sharing his thoughts on President Trump. Curry had a dispute with his primary sponsor, Under Armour, as the CEO, Kevin Plank, described Trump to be “a real asset” to the United States in a CNBC interview. Curry shared his thoughts about Plank’s comment with The San Jose Mercury News in which he said, “I agree with that description if you remove the ‘et’.” Curry also endorsed presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign.
In 2015, the Golden State Warriors visited President Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, at the White House in honor of their Finals title.

This will make the Golden State Warriors the first team to skip a meeting with President Trump to commemorate a championship win. The New England Patriots visited the White House under Trump’s Administration in April 2017, but many players, including quarterback Tom Brady, did not show.
