The film is a collaboration between The Firm, Permut Presentations and led by Ice Cube’s Cube Vision. Producers David Permut, Jeff Kwatinetz and Ice Cube band together to produce the new film, written by Joey Poach. The movie showcases the real story behind the man who admits, he never took to the mound sober.

This open and honest story will give the audience insight about Dock Ellis and his time in Major League Baseball. Poach also highlights Ellis’s struggles throughout his life such as, facing racism within Major League Baseball and dealing with substance abuse.

The film captures how Ellis was able to use his experiences to finding purpose within his life. Dock Ellis was more than an avid baseball player. He used his position to serve as an advocate for Black civil rights and even became a counselor for other professional athletes who found themselves in similar situations as Ellis.
