Although we weren’t ready for the Obamas to leave the White House just yet, those of us living in the Washington metropolitan area felt comforted knowing they would be living among us as civilians for at least two years.

And now it looks as if they may be staying a lot longer.

The New York Times reports that President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have made a recent investment in real estate, securing an $8.1 million mansion they’ve been renting in an exclusive D.C. neighborhood. Talk about well-deserved luxury!

Even better, the mansion is reportedly only a few miles from the White House. You know, just in case they need to keep an eye on you-know-who…

This has us wondering, though: Have they completely given up on the idea of moving back to Chicago? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

TELL US: How do you feel about the Obama family establishing a permanent home in Washington?
