The students at Harvard have been representing lately! First, it was the all Black commencement, and now Harvard student, Obasi Shaw, will graduate with honors after submitting the first-ever rap album in the school’s history for his English thesis.

Sources say that Shaw’s 10-track rap album called “Liminal Minds”, explores what it’s like to be Black in America. In addition to making history, Shaw received an “A-,” allowing him to graduate with honors in the upcoming graduation:

“I never thought it would be accepted by Harvard,” said Shaw, a 20-year-old from Stone Mountain, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. “I didn’t think they would respect rap as an art form enough for me to do it.”

To add to the good news, Shaw will be heading to Seattle to start his career as a software engineer at Google. Of course, he hopes that his musical project will also open doors in the music industry.
