From Martin Luther King Jr. to Spike Lee, Morehouse College has fostered some of the most substantial African-American men in the United States. Founded in 1867, Morehouse is a private, historically black liberal arts college for men. Through its three academic divisions, Morehouse offers 26 majors for students to choose from. Popular majors include Business Administration and Management, Political Science and Psychology. There is always something to do on campus. In the yard, students can groove to the sounds of jazz coming from Jazzman’s or be inspired by the words of Martin Luther King Jr., inscribed on a statue. Along with Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College, Morehouse is a part of the Atlanta University Center (AUC), the largest consortium of black colleges and universities. Within the AUC, students from all institutions can mingle in and out of class. Morehouse is dedicated to scholarship, teaching and service. It is Morehouse’s mission to “develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service.”
