Established in 1943, the United States Merchant Marine Academy trains and educates future midshipmen to serve and guard our boarders in the U.S. Marine Corp. USMMA is organized into six academic divisions. The curriculum includes courses in marine transportation, marine engineering, naval science and others. Training at the academy is no easy task. Midshipmen go through a rigorous program that challenges them both physically and mentally. By sophomore year, midshipmen receive training out at sea learning sailing and trade routes across the world. For over 65 years, the United States Merchant Marine Academy has developed the best Marines serving the United States. It is the school’s mission to educate future leaders to serve in America’s marine transportation and defense during times of war and peace.
