Home of the Blue Devils, Duke University was established in 1924 by James B. Duke. Across its 10 academic schools, Duke awards undergraduate and graduate degrees in various fields of study. Popular majors include Biology, Psychology, Economics and Political Science. In their spare time, Duke students can participate in the more than 400 student groups and organizations. Groups designed for African-American students include Black Male Outreach and Education, Black Pre-Law Association, Black Student Alliance plus several more. Duke is also home to the Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture, which promotes racial understanding and increases knowledge of black history and culture. From campus socials to watching the Blue Devils crush the competition during home games, Duke students are certain to find something fun to do – once they’ve finished their work, of course.
