Winston-Salem State University is a public, historically black university. Founded in 1892, WSSU is a component of the University of North Carolina. Across its four academic schools, WSSU offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees in several fields of study. Popular majors at the university are Health, Business and Social Sciences. Outside the classroom, students can participate in activities on campus and in the community. Winston-Salem has over 100 registered groups and organizations to suit each student’s personal interest.
