Founded in 1912, Tennessee State University is a historically black, comprehensive, land-grant institution. For years TSU has maintained one of the highest graduation rates among all HBCUs and The Tennessee Board of Regents. Through its eight colleges, TSU offers 77 majors to choose from. Popular majors include Liberal Arts, Business Administration and Psychology. With more than 100 student groups and organizations, TSU students can get involved outside the classroom. Each year TSU’s homecoming shuts the city down. People come from all over to enjoy a weekend of alumni activities and tailgating before they watch the TSU Tigers trample the competition. TSU is committed to academic excellence. It is TSU’s mission to “foster scholarly inquiry and research, lifelong learning, and a commitment to service.”
