Well, it took us 220 years before we got our first Black president, so it only makes sense that we had to wait eight more years before we got our first African-American bachelorette.
Yep, that’s right! Rachel L. Lindsay, a 31-year-old lawyer at the Dallas firm Cooper & Scully, will be the first Black lead on “The Bachelorette,” since the spin-off TV show began 14 years ago.
The exciting news was announced last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
So with all the hype about the upcoming season, scheduled to start in May 22, we couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to list a few single Black women who would make great candidates for “The Bachelorette.”
