Unknown-4

Before Friends came along, six young Black urban professionals were already putting New York City on the map as the place to be.  Living Single was the hilarious story of four women and two men sharing a brownstone, forming friendships and developing bonds that make them more like family.

The hit show featured Khadijah James (Queen Latifah), a hard-working editor and publisher of the hip-hop magazine Flavor. Jones shares an apartment with her sweet but naive cousin Synclaire (Kim Coles), an aspiring actress who works as Khadijah’s receptionist. Also along is childhood friend Regine Hunter (Kim Fields), an image-conscious boutique buyer who is in search of a well-to-do man to spend her life with.  Though not a roommate, Khadijah’s best friend, Maxine "Max" Shaw (Ericka Alexander), stops by frequently after long days at her law office and raids the refrigerator while offering her sharp-tongued insights.

The girls are joined by the tenants above their apartment, Overton Wakefield Jones (John Henton) and Kyle Barker (Terrance Carson).  Overton, a friendly handyman, has deep affections for Synclair while Kyle, a stockbroker, plays cat and mouse with Max.

These six friends will keep you laughing and remind you why it was so great to be single in a 90’s kind of world.
