Gabourey Sidibe made her film debut as the title character in Lee Daniels’ Precious.

For her stunning performance, Sidibe earned Academy Award® and Golden Globe® Award nominations for Best Actress, as well as SAG, Broadcast Film Critics and BAFTA nominations. She won the Independent Spirit Award and a NAACP Image Award for Best Actress, the Breakthrough Performance Award from the National Board of Review and the Vanguard Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

In addition to Empire, Sidibe’s other television credits include memorable arcs on American Horror Story: Coven, and The Big C.

Sidibe appears in Sacha Baron Cohen’s Grimsby, for director Louis Leterrier. She was seen in Gregg Araki’s White Bird in a Blizzard opposite Shailene Woodley, which premiered at Sundance in 2014. Other films include the independent dark comedy Gravy and Life Partners, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014. Additional film credits include the action-comedy Tower Heist for director Brett Ratner; Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths, in which she made a memorable cameo appearance; and Victoria Mahoney’s independent film Yelling to the Sky, which premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival.

In 2010, Sidibe had the distinct honor of hosting Saturday Night Live.
