The trailer for Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson‘s highly anticipated horror film is finally here. The ninth installment of the Saw franchise, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, is executive produced by the 56-year-old comedian.

According to Spiral’s official description, the film follows an esteemed police veteran (Jackson), his son Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Rock), and Zeke’s rookie partner William Schenk (Max Minghella) as they investigate a series of grisly murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly trapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

“This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous Saw films,” said Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake via Deadline. “Chris conceived this idea, and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise.”

“Chris wants to put his own spin on the Saw franchise in the way Eddie Murphy got a completely fresh prespective on buddy-cop films with 48 hours,” added series producer Mark Burg. “This new Saw is going to be an event film in the making for horror fans. It will have all of the twists and turns and harcore layers that our fans expect directed by one of the masters of the craft, Darren Lynn Bousman.”
