Four months following Tommy “Tiny” Lister‘s death, an autopsy revealed the Friday actor died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. TMZ reports that although he tested positive for COVID-19, heart disease was the ultimate cause of death.

Cindy Cowan, Lister’s manager, said in December that the Compton native had tested positive four months prior to his unexpected death. A week before he passed, he began to not feel well again.
“He thought maybe his diabetes was starting to kick up because he just wasn’t feeling right,” Cowan told People in December. “He said, ‘I feel like I’m getting COVID again.'”
Although Cowan believed Lister “was really afraid to get tested again” after having difficulty breathing, she planned on taking him to the doctor on Thursday, “and then obviously Thursday never happened.”
The autopsy also showed that the 62-year-old had an enlarged heart with high blood pressure, poor circulation in his legs, and coronary artery disease.
“He wanted to be one of the first ones to get the vaccine because he wanted to be able to get his life back to normal and be able to spend Christmas with his daughter,” Cowan added. “It’s so sad that he said that six days prior to passing.”
A wellness check was performed on the late actor after many grew concerned about his health after canceling his first day of filming for a new movie starring Sam Worthington and a Zoom appearance as a panelist at a TV festival. On December 10, Lister was pronounced dead at the scene in his California apartment after being found unresponsive.
