Fantasia Barrino revealed in a series of Instagram stories that she was rushed to the hospital after experiencing contractions six months into her pregnancy. Expecting her first child with husband Kendall Taylor, the Grammy award-winning artist confirmed to fans that although her body is “tired”, she and her baby girl “got this.”

“Good morning. We’ve been in the hospital all day,” said the 36-year-old. “We have to stay in the hospital for a while. My baby girl thinks she’s missing something out here, but she’s got to stay in here a little longer.”

When the American Idol alum announced her pregnancy late last year, she spoke on the fertility issues she faced while trying to conceive, “It was really starting to depress me and him — it was like my tube was closed.” Nonetheless, she turned to the power of prayer and maintained her faith.

“I thank God for my husband,” Barrino mentioned as she panned the camera to a sleeping Taylor in the hospital room. “He’s over there knocked out, poor thing! He’s been riding in there with me.”

The North Carolina native added that her contractions were “starting to come down.”

The couple spoke candidly about the fertility issues they faced for years on the Tamron Hall Show in December stating, “At first, we thought we were going to have to do different things.”

“Everybody was suggesting IVF because it wasn’t happening,” said the singer. “This is a three-year journey we’ve been on.” Upon receiving the news, Barrino and Taylor stopped actively trying to conceive until one night when she woke up and realized a slight change.

“I kid you not, I forgot about it … And then I woke up one night, and I was just like, ‘Um, something’s different.”

The “Truth Is” singer has two children from her past relationships — Dallas Xavier, 8, and Zion Quari, 19 — and Taylor has a son named Treyshaun.

We’ll continue to keep Fantasia and her husband in our prayers.
