After suffering a heart attack Friday night (April 2), DMX was admitted to White Plains Hospital in New York where he was placed on life support Sunday afternoon. His former manager, Nakia Walker, informed the New York Times that the 50-year-old is in a “vegetative state.”

“He’s still in the same condition — in a vegetative state, [with] lung and brain failure and no brain activity,” Walker told BuzzFeed News.

A source close to the rapper told Entertainment Tonight that medical staff “tried to revive him twice in the house, and revived him again in the hospital.”

“This is a very difficult time for the family,” added the source as DMX recently relapsed from his drug addiction.

The Grammy award-winning’s attorney, Murray Richman, spoke highly of his character to the Times stating, “He is truly an amazing person.”

“He walked into a room, he lit up the room,” said Richman. “He couldn’t help making you feel good in his presence.”

While speaking to the “difficult life” the artist has lived, his attorney for 25 years said that “He expressed the pain and suffering in a very unique way. He truly is reflective of a whole segment of our society whose pain and suffering go unrecorded.”

Concerned for his health, Richman told PIX11 News that “It would be disingenuous for me to suggest that I’m not a worried man at this particular point.”

As support flows in from fans and celebrities such as Viola Davis, Maxwell, and Gabrielle Union, his family released a statement to People asking that the “Ruff Ryders Anthem” rapper be kept “in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.”

We’re keeping DMX in our prayers for a speedy recovery.
