Shaw University is a private, historically black liberal arts college. Founded in 1865, Shaw is the South’s first HBCU. Shaw has five academic departments within its College of Arts and Sciences. Students can choose a major in Humanities, Mass Communications, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Religion and Philosophy, Social Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts. Through the school’s many student groups, organizations, and intercollegiate activities, Shaw students have the opportunity to express their skills and talents while working and playing with fellow students.
