From Michelle Obama‘s inauguration look which made ‘laid’ trend on Twitter, to the release of her new Netflix series and adaptation of “Becoming” for young readers — it’s clear that this is her season and it has no end in sight.
The former first lady will be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of fame this year alongside Katherine Johnson, NASA’s first Black female engineer, and renowned author Octavia E. Butler.

“Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most influential and iconic women of the 21st century,” the organization stated on behalf of the author. “During her time in the White House, from 2009-2017, she established herself as a strong advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world.”
The ceremony will take place on October 2 at the National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York and is set to be held in person with COVID-19 protocols. A live virtual streaming of the ceremony will be available to the public for free.
The renowned author will be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame for her contributions towards expanding the science fiction genre by including the point of view of marginalized communities.
Johnson, “NASA mathematician, pioneer in racial and gender equality, and contributor to one of our nation’s first triumphs in human spaceflight” will also be inducted in this year’s ceremony.
In a recent interview with People, the 57-year-old shared how she has been preparing for retirement, “Barack and I never want to experience winter again. We’re building the foundation for somebody else to continue the work so we can retire and be with each other — and Barack can gold too much, and I can tease him about golfing too much because he’s got nothing else to do.”
And based on her several accolades and accomplishments, it’s clear that retirement is long overdue.
