The 29-year-old posted a snippet of “Rain” on Instagram captioning the post, “No disrespect lol @kirkfranklin can u clear this.” By the time the audio had been removed on Twitter for being “reported by the copyright owner,” it was already too late as Kirk Franklin had been trending on Twitter due to Black Twitter’s flood of reactions. One user tweeted, “I know this man ain’t just sample [an] iconic song by Kirk Franklin for some booty music.”

Then, the Grammy-winning musician entered the conversation with some subtle yet appropriate shade by clearing up the situation with three words which makes it safe to assume that the sample had not been cleared.
