Friday the 13th started off extremely unlucky for Andrew Gilliam, he as was an occupant in a Miami hotel room where authorities responded to a call for a potential overdose.

According to a police report, when they arrived, the former Tallahassee Mayor was found with two other men, Aldo Mejias and Travis Dyson. Dyson made the call to police stating that when he arrived to the room Gillum and Mejias were “under the influence of an unknown substance.” He claims Mejias collapsed, vomited, and was having trouble breathing. Dyson says he then started to give Mejias chest compressions.

The report went on to say that officers

“observed in plain sight three small baggies containing suspected crystal meth on both the bed and floor of the hotel room”

In regards to Gillum, the report reads that officers attempted to get his statement however he was “unable to communicate” due to his “inebriated state.”

Dyson was treated for a possible overdose and remains in a local hospital in stable condition. The responding police officers told CNN that they are not currently pursuing criminal charges.

Gillum released a statement apologizing for his involvement but denying any drug use.

“I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends,” Gillum said in the statement. “While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines. I apologize to the people of Florida for the distraction this has caused our movement. I’m thankful to the incredible Miami Beach EMS team for their efforts. I will spend the next few weeks with my family and appreciate privacy during this time.”
