B. Smith, the loveable restauranter, cook and author, died according to her husband, Dan Gasby. She was 70 years old.
Smith revealed her Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2013, telling CBS, “she felt like crying.”
Despite her sudden illness, Smith was committed to dedicating her new reality to educate the African American community, penning, Before I Forget, a collaboration between her and Gasby about living with someone with the disease.
Gasby made headlines last year when he revealed his girlfriend to the world, with a seemingly supportive Smith by his side.
Personal thoughts aside, the care and watchful eye Gasby kept on our beloved B. Smith was admirable and beautiful to watch over the years. Our continued thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
