We’ve been waiting to see just how The Chi would handle the absence of Jason Mitchell (he was accused of sexual misconduct by his co-star Tiffany Boone last summer), and we’re getting the first look in the new trailer for season three.

Showtime released the trailer for the Lena Waithe-produced series and we’re getting the first look of the show, including one of its newest characters, played by Kandi Burruss.

Waithe, who will make her first appearance in the show, admitted she didn’t handle things “the best way” and soon after the network announced several new characters to the series, our guess is to offset the blow of losing Mitchell. La La Anthony, Luke James and Lil Rel Howery are also slated to appear in various roles.
The Chi, which picked up two NAACP Image Award nominations last week, returns Sunday, July 5 and stars Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Yolonda Ross, Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert and more.
