Most famous for its spin-off of All in the Family, the sitcom, which aired from 1975-1985, followed George and Louise Jefferson, a Black couple “who moved on up” to the East Side of Manhattan from Queens after the success of George’s dry-cleaner chain. Sherman Hemsley, who died in 2012, made the role famous and his influence on black television is still seen today. The same can be said for the late Isabel Sanford.

According to reports, the specials will also star “Woody Harrelson, as Archie Bunker and Marisa Tomei, 54, as Edith. Their roles were made famous by the late Carroll O’Connor and Jean Stapleton.” Remember when the world found out who really wrote The Jeffersons theme song on Unsung Hollywood?
