It’s been almost a year since Kim Kardashian West‘s meeting with 45 helped free Alice Marie Johnson from prison (the reality star even wrote the Foreword to Ms. Johnson’s new book) and she isn’t done using her privilege and endless resources just yet.

Meet Matthew Charles, one of the first inmates freed under The First Step Act, a new federal criminal justice reform law. The Tennesee native served 22 years of a 35-year sentence prior to being released.

And after being denied housing, Kardashian-West stepped in yet again, offering to pay five years of Charles’ rent. Read what he said on Facebook after he received the news.

Say what you will about West and her family, but the best way to become an ally is through action, and Kim is helping lead the way.
